In 2001, the Whyalla Football League selected it’s team of the century and what a fine team it is:

The selectors even picked an umpire, the one and only Haydn Bunton (senior), who, after his illustrious playing career, took on umpiring and officiated in the Grand Final in Whyalla in 1947.
