Materials Handling BIS provides a range of materials handling services incorporating over 200 pieces of equipment to support production operations across a customer's steelworks in New South Wales and steel plant site in Victoria. In New South Wales, this includes a coil handling service for up to 46,000 coated steel coils per annum, using innovative Automated Guided Vehicles within the customer's steel packaging product process. This service also includes an integrated semi-automatic coil packaging line. BIS also provide wet/dry hire of specialised forklift equipment that primarily operate in Steel, Mining and Port applications. In South Australia, BIS provides the planning and direct delivery to production processes for over 4 million tonnes per annum of various steel plant raw materials for another steel industry customer. This bulk materials handling service includes: Mining Processing Haulage and shipment of iron ore, coal, coke and fluxing products
Slag Handling At a customer site in Whyalla, South Australia, BIS provides a 24 hour production critical service to transport up to 30,000 tonnes of molten slag from a customer's blast furnace. Slag is removed from the blast furnace cast house floor via specialised transporters for processing and disposing as a waste or recycled product.
Scrap Handling BIS provides an integrated collection, processing and delivery service for up to 210,000 tonnes of scrap directly into our customer's steelmaking plant. The scrap steel is assembled and delivered in batches (scoops) to planned schedules ready for direct charging into the steelmaking furnaces.
Ship Loading & Unloading Services In Whyalla, South Australia, BIS operates and maintains a customer's export Ore Storage Facility (250,000 tonne storage facility) which includes tip pocket, conveyor systems, baghouses, dust extraction systems and shiploader. BIS operates the Pit to Port System on behalf of the customer, while managing the customer's stockpile for Export Ore.
Iron Ore Haulage BIS, in conjunction with HWE Mining, haul run of mine Iron Ore from the Iron Knight to Iron Duke mines in South Australia, at a rate of 1.5 million tonnes per annum, utilising specially built off-highway prime movers and side tipper quad axle trailers (utilising 3 trailer combinations) with a pay load of 185 tonnes per unit.
