Well the Medal count has been and
gone and the League had a good show, with guests Chad Cornes from the Power and
Rhett Biglands from the Crows. They both spoke well and I enjoyed their Q & A
with compere Damian Judd who did a very professional job.
The Best & Fairest winners this year in Ray McIntosh (League), Robbie Dunn
(Reserves), Cameron Edey (U 17's) and Ben Sawford and Ciaran Hollingworth-Hughes
( U 14's), were all excellent selections and Tit Bit must say for a change the
Umps got it right!.

Preliminary Final Day and we woke to a very windy day which is not good for
football, a 5 goal wind blowing North to South down the ground.
The Under 14's had the best conditions early and their game was a cliff hanger
with West tipping Central out in the last minute of the game. Under 14's to
impress Tit Bit in this game were D. Collison (Central), B.sawford (West),
M.Gurnett (Central), C.Hollingworth-Hughes (West) and J.Webster (Central).
The Under 17's had a good game until West kicked away in the last quarter. They
are a very speedy side and young Bob Calliss had a tremendous BOG performance
for West, other players to come under my notice were :-, G.Shepherd (West),
M.Lawson (Roopena), N.Covino (West), J.Marshall (Roopena), J.Burgoyne (Roopena),
J.Rohrlach (West), C.Webster (Roopena), and N.Grzona (West). The standard in
this grade has been exceptional all year and Tit Bit has really enjoyed watching
the talent in this competition.
The
League last weekend were overjoyed with the crowd at the 1st and 2nd Semi Finals
and I overheard League President say it was a record crowd for the 2nd Semi for
the League. This reflects on the strength of the competition this year and the
strong following of North and West.
The
Reserves was a low scoring game and I cannot remember when both teams never
scored in the first quarter - I started to think I was at the soccer. The wind
played havoc with the players and Centrals eventually broke through to advance
to next week. Players to come under notice were:-, Peter Carter and Robbie Dunn
(Centrals) and Andrew Caust and Terry Ledgard (North).
The
League game to 4 minutes before half time was a tight torrid affair with only 2
points the difference and then North kicked 3 quick goals for a handy lead at
half time. The wind was the worst we had experienced for the season and some of
the players were unable to adapt to the conditions with their kicks etc. The
second half saw North gradually get on top in an intriguing game and we can
expect a good tight game between West and North next week in the Grand Final.
Lets
hope for a mild day so that we can see good football and a bumper crowd.
