2008  14th June

Tit Bit has been on holiday's with Mahatma Cote and I have come back full of knowledge!!

Looking at the results the Dragons have done everything right to date with their young side and the Demons are not far away with their more experienced players. The Magpies seem to be good one week and ordinary the next and I understand shift work has a lot to do with this. The Roos and the Bays are not far off the pace and from all reports, at finals time could still feature.
Centrals - well it has been a long time since we have seen them in this position. The inability to hold some of their youngsters and an aging player group would be of concern, however I would not write them off at this stage.

Congratulations to Ryan McInerney, former Westie now with Port Magpies on making the State Under 20 side, Well done.
Also notice that Whyalla players are prominent
at the Port Magpies, namely - Josh Walker, Ben Butler, Kynan Buhlman and Ryan McInerney. The league's scholarship squad under Freddy Stringer has certainly been a good move and consistently producing players of a higher standard.

The senior side competed in the Mortlock Shield in Port Lincoln and from reports they played reasonably well and finished fourth. Considering the unavailability of several players the result was fair, however I feel that we need to ensure that planning is done to get our best possible side into this event.

The Under 15's Port Adelaide teams were up against it this year, however with the majority able to play again next year improvement can be expected.

The Under 17 Kinlough squad start training this week and Freddy appears quietly confident of a good showing.

Noticed a State Under 20 player from the Magpies, Xavier Watson from Cummins assisting Freddy with Kinlough training on Thursday.

Congratulations to the following players on being selected for the Northern Zone squad for the State Country Championships.

Ray McIntosh Daniel Smedley Nick Prokopec Chad Clothier Kane Grund
Greg Fiebig Dwayne Colson Bradley Page Ryan Baker Aaron Smith
